“Walk inside, take rest and explore what it means to Love and Feel and Touch and Try Try Try..”

With ‘Machines for self care’, Sandipan develops Samar’s philosophical fieldwork “Listening, with dairy cows” where they learn to harness muted human sensory capacities to access the conversations that cows have amongst themselves and with their environments. Using metaphors, parables and vicarious encounters with the farms’ rhythms, the work involves viewers in forms of expression possible at farms.
Machines for Self care is supported by Stroom Den Haag and is co-developed with Samar Khan

A meeting with a linguist that listens to cows inspired Samar to conduct fieldwork at Utrecht local dairy farm. Amongst many lessons from the dairy cows, by the end of their fieldwork, Samar had inadvertently learnt to feel plants.
